UBC's tuition framework
In January 2002, when the provincial government restored to university Boards of Governors the authority to set tuition fees, the University of British Columbia introduced a three-year strategy of tuition fee increases based on quality improvements required, peer comparators, market, and costs.
In January 2005, the provincial government indicated in the Speech from the Throne that tuition increases at provincial post-secondary institutions would be limited to cost of living.
