Deductibles
A student is funded for their entire unmet need, less the unmet need deductible.
The deductible is the same for all students in a given program, which ensures that funding is awarded to as many students as possible while remaining on budget. It replaces previous bursary maximums and ensures that even the highest unmet need is almost entirely funded.
The unmet need deductible is calculated using a combination of the need of the bursary applicant pool and the available funding, and therefore varies from year to year.

A "$0" deductible means that all unmet need was funded for eligible students on the UBC Okanagan campus and in Undergraduate, Research Graduate, and Commerce programs at the UBC Vancouver campus.
The deductible for each differentiated undergraduate program is derived from annual, endowed, and tuition allocation funding specifically intended for that program. Students in designated graduate programs are generally not eligible for University bursary assistance.
