Commitment to student financial support

The UBC Board of Governors is committed to ensuring that no eligible domestic student will be prevented from starting or continuing their studies at the University for financial reasons alone. The University continues to fulfill this commitment on access to students under Policy 72: Access to the University of British Columbia (142KB PDF).

During the tuition consultation process, students have continued to reiterate their support for allocations to student financial support to ensure access to UBC.

  • UBC Vancouver: as of March 30, 2011, 3,572 students received $12,821,675 in need-based support under the Winter General Bursary program in 2010/11 (excluding government loans and grants).
  • UBC Okanagan: as of March 30, 2011, 615 students received $1,603,430 in need-based support under the Winter General Bursary program in 2010/11 (excluding government loans and grants).
