Student exchange programs

What are student exchange programs?

Student exchange programs (Go Global) provide students with study, work, and volunteer opportunities to build global citizenship skills and knowledge; to live their discipline; and to take advantage of academic excellence at our partner institutions.

Go Global: International Learning Programs are Senate-approved and are designed to create opportunities for outstanding students to fulfill UBC degree requirements as they immerse themselves in the academic and social lives of different regions in the world. Mobility opportunities are available for undergraduate and graduate students, both internationally and in Canada.

Who can go on exchange?

The Go Global program is open to all students who meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • a minimum average of 70% or higher in the year they apply;
  • completion of at least one year of full-time studies at UBC before beginning an exchange;
  • a third-year standing during the exchange;* and
  • completion of the LPI/English faculty requirements.

Please note: In the Faculty of Law, transfer students are eligible to go on exchange, but only for one term. Visiting students at UBC are ineligible to go on exchange.

* Arts students are eligible to go on exchange in their second year. Law students are eligible to go in the second term of their second year, or in their third year.
