Staying in Canada as a visitor
To stay in Canada as a visitor after you complete your studies (if your study permit is going to expire), you need to apply for a visitor record. You can apply by mail from within Canada (the application can take over 100 days to process) to change your immigration status to visitor.
Once you switch to a visitor record, any new application for a study permit or work permit must be made outside of Canada, and can be made at the Canadian Consulate in Seattle, Washington.
