Can I afford to go?
As an International Service Learning (ISL) participant, you will remain an active UBC student during your placement. This may enable you to continue using your existing scholarships, loans, and awards while you’re abroad.
Go Global participants are eligible for International Learning Awards.
ISL students can also offset costs through charitable donations and fundraising. Depending on how much you put into your fundraising efforts, it can go a long way. Past students have managed to raise anywhere from a few hundred dollars to enough to fully cover their program costs.
Some, but not all, of the programs are eligible for additional funding and scholarships and these will be highlighted on the program page.
Additionally, we work with our community partners to keep costs fair and reasonable for our international service learning placements.
