Education Practicum Placements
International practicum placements for Faculty of Education students are a four-week section of your extended practicum.
As part of your international practicum placement, you will need to submit a one-page paper with your observations on differences and similarities between the BC school system and the school system of your international placement.
Eligibility
To be eligible to do an international education practicum, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be a student in good standing in the Faculty of Education
- Have passed all BEd courses and practicums proceeding the international practicum
- Have a satisfactory academic record for studies immediately preceding the BEd
- Have strong oral and written English or French (if applying to a France language option) skills
Practicum Placement Opportunities
For all of these opportunities, the university or institution arranges placements for UBC teacher candidates. Local teachers apply to have a practicum student and in most cases placements will correspond with your specialization.

In most cases the placement will correspond with your specialization. Placements can be in public or independent schools as they all follow a national curriculum. | |

| Placement Details: The English Schools Federation teaches the national curriculum of England and Wales with the Elementary schools moving towards the International Baccalaureate Primary Program. In most cases the placement will correspond with your specialization. |

| Tec de Monterrey / Madison Schools, Monterrey, Mexico | Dates: Elementary/middle years: May-June |
| Placement Details: K-8 placements only. Madison schools are a private bilingual school system with students learning in Spanish and English. Students are introduced to English beginning in year one and they are normally quite fluent by middle year grades. Most parents and most teachers in the schools have a good understanding of English. The school may offer full-time positions to participants for the year following BEd completion. |

The emphasis for this location is on elementary/middle years placements, but secondary placements are possible. In most cases the placement will correspond with your specialization.
