Go Global works with participating faculties to promote programs, select students, and facilitate credit transfer. A Senate Committee, made up of deans and associate deans and chaired by the registrar, provides advice on policy.

Go Global provides year-round support for UBC students through the various stages of participation in our international learning programs. We also support visiting exchange students from around the world.

Go Global works with UBC faculties and departments in the following capacities:

Programs

  • Developing international learning opportunities
  • Advising students on international learning opportunities
  • Promoting international learning opportunities
  • Pre-departure preparation
  • Processing program applications and fees
  • Student Mobility Agreements (Exchange, Research Abroad):
    • Review, renewal, and closure of existing agreements
    • Negotiation of new agreements, securing Senate approval
    • Tracking and maintenance of exchange balances
    • Credit transfer administration
  • Group Study
    • Administrative support for faculty-led Group Study programs
  • International Service Learning:
    • Developing and negotiating new community partnerships
    • Reviewing, renewing, and closing existing partnerships
    • Developing credit-bearing programs in partnership with faculties and departments
    • Developing program learning objectives

Campus-wide services

Services for students from partner universities

  • Distributing UBC exchange information to partner universities
  • Processing applications for exchange to UBC
  • Assessing program suitability for incoming students
  • Admitting incoming exchange students
  • Coordinating on-campus housing
  • Providing pre-arrival information
  • Registering students in UBC courses
  • On-arrival orientation in partnership with GALA – International Orientation
  • Advising and liaising with faculties/departments while students are at UBC
  • Sending UBC transcripts upon completion of study

COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE

Go Global is running a Community of Practice (CoP) this fall, facilitated through the Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology (CTLT). During our first year, the CoP will focus on International Service Learning at UBC.
