Studying Law

The Faculty of Law at UBC welcomes exchange students from around the world. Nonetheless, there are limited spaces for students wishing to study law at UBC. Students from universities with law-specific arrangements can check with their universities for information on available space at UBC.

Guidelines for prospective Faculty of Law exchange students

  1. Students must be registered in the Faculty of Law at one of the universities listed below.
  2. Before coming to UBC, exchange students must have completed at least one year of law studies with a 70% average (or equivalent).
  3. Students are eligible to take 200-, 300- and 400-level courses (subject to space availability).  While exchange students are eligible for UBC Law’s clinical courses, they have early application deadlines (enrolment is by special registration) and often have wait lists. Exchange students interested in clinical programs at UBC Law should contact the clinical program coordinator directly to inquire about space available in the course. More information can be found on the Faculty of Law website.
  4. Spaces in courses that are in seminar format are typically limited to a small number of students. The Faculty of Law will not allow additional students to enrol once a course has reached its capacity. If a course that is required for your degree is full, you must find an alternative course.
  5. Go Global will register law students in their courses in July.
  6. For a complete listing of law courses, please see course information on the Faculty of Law website.

More information can be found on the Faculty of Law website. If you have further questions, please email go.global@ubc.ca. Please do not contact the Faculty of Law directly.
