Not from a partner university?

Visiting, Unclassified, and Access Studies students are part of Non-Degree Studies, which is for students taking UBC courses without pursuing a UBC degree.

Non-Degree Studies is an option for you if:

  • You have already completed a degree
  • You are completing an undergraduate degree at another institution
  • You want to take courses for general interest outside of a degree program

Visit the Non-Degree Studies website for more information and to find out how to apply.

If you are not from one of our partner universities, you may apply to UBC as a visiting student.

Students attending a recognized post-secondary institution are welcome to apply to UBC as a visiting student, taking courses for one or two terms before returning to their home institution. Admission as a visiting student does not guarantee admission to a degree program at UBC, and enrolment is limited for some programs.

When you apply, you will be asked to supply a list of courses that you are interested in attending at UBC. Please note that admission as a visiting student does not guarantee entrance to the courses requested. You must complete prerequisites or equivalents from your home institution if the specific UBC courses you want to take have prerequisites.

When completing your application, pay particular attention to English language requirements. If you have questions about applying as a visiting international student or about the application in general, please contact Undergraduate Admissions for assistance.
