Awards for Aboriginal students

UBC has a number of scholarships and bursaries available specifically for Aboriginal students.

Am I eligible?

For all awards

You must be an Aboriginal student (e.g. First Nations, Inuit, Métis, Non-status Indian, or Status Indian). Additional requirements for some awards are listed on the application. Check off the awards you want to be considered for.

For scholarships

For awards listed as scholarships, you must meet the scholarship requirements set out in UBC Senate Regulations:

  • registration in at least 27 percentage-graded credits in the previous academic year
  • average of at least 75% (with no failed or incomplete courses)
  • registration in at least 24 credits for the upcoming academic year

For bursaries

For awards listed as bursaries, you need to demonstrate financial need by answering the relevant questions on the application.

How do I apply?

Applications are posted in March and due by the end of May. Submit your completed application to Student Financial Assistance & Awards.

Applications must be received by 4:00 PM, May 31. Applicants will be notified by mid-July.
