Students from BC

Government student loan assistance is available to BC residents enrolled in either full-time or part-time studies.

You must register in a minimum number of credits to be considered a full-time student. You can check the full-time course load requirements for your program in the Full-Time Course Load Guide.

Interest is not charged while you remain full-time in a loan eligible program at an approved post-secondary institution. Additionally, interest is not charged during the summer break (May to August) if you return to full-time study each September and update your full-time status with your lenders (by receiving a new loan or submitting a confirmation of enrolment). You will be required to begin repaying your loan six months after you leave full-time studies. Grant funding does not have to be repaid.

How to apply

Students from BC can apply online through StudentAid BC (SABC) to be considered for federal and provincial loans and grant funding. To receive your funding before tuition is due, you should complete your application at least two months before classes start.

How much loan funding will I receive?

The amount of funding you receive depends on the financial information you submit in your online application. After you have submitted your application, you will receive an assessment from SABC. This assessment will tell you how much funding you are eligible for and when you will receive it.
