Your financial plan

Citizenship and Immigration Canada requires international students to have sufficient funds for tuition and living costs. The best way to find out whether you have sufficient funds is to assess how much your UBC education will cost and  develop a financial plan, which we can help you prepare.

Find out your tuition, fees, and living costs

Undergraduate students

Undergraduate students can consult the UBC cost calculator to find out the cost of a session at UBC.

The cost calculator can help you figure out the cost of your tuition, fees, and living costs. It can also help you determine whether you have the resources you need to pay for those costs.

Graduate students

Graduate students can consult the Faculty of Graduate Studies for information on tuition, fees, and living costs.

Your financial plan

To create a useful and informed financial plan, keep in mind these four basic principles.

  1. Plan ahead

Planning in advance will ensure that you know your financial situation before arriving at UBC, and whether you need to explore additional funding options.
  2. Know your costs

Knowing your total tuition, fees, and living costs means that you will know what to expect and that you can plan your finances confidently.
  3. Allow for unexpected costs

The unexpected happens. Always leave room in your budget for those costs that you can’t anticipate, regardless of how prepared you are.
  4. Know the cost of an emergency

Emergencies can significantly impact your budget. Emergency situations for which you should consider the costs include: emergency trips home, funding delays, medical expenses not covered by UBC’s extended health care plan.
