Undergraduate students

There are several scholarships available for undergraduate students:

Work opportunities

Undergraduate students

Undergraduate students can apply for on-campus jobs through the Work Learn program. If you intend to apply for work opportunities in Canada, refer to the International Students website for further information on working in Canada.

Graduate students

Graduate students can apply for Research and Teaching Assistantships. If you intend to apply for work opportunities in Canada, refer to the International Students website for further information on working in Canada.

Student loans

International students are not eligible to apply for Canadian governmental student loans.

However, students from the United States are eligible to apply for student loans through the US Department of Education’s Federal Direct Loan Program.

Students from countries that have government loan programs may be eligible for funding through their government. Please contact your government’s loan program to see if UBC is an eligible institution and if your UBC program meets your loan program’s requirements.

If you need UBC to complete documentation for your government’s student loan program, or have further questions contact Student Financial Assistance & Awards.

Award recipients

If you are the recipient of either an International Leader of Tomorrow Award (ILOT) or an International Student Humanitarian Award (ISHA), you need to do the following to maintain your award and have it renewed each year:

  1. Meet with your academic advisor once per term.
  2. Meet with your award advisor once per term.
  3. Submit the below Award Review Form to Student Financial Assistance & Awards each year by May 15.
