Student loans

Most graduate programs at UBC are eligible for government student loan funding. However, part-time graduate programs are typically not eligible. If you are unsure whether your program is loan eligible, contact Student Financial Assistance & Awards.

If you are enrolling in an eligible graduate program, you can find loan application information specific to you below:

Permanent residents, landed immigrants, and "protected persons" (as designated under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act) can apply for student loans from the Government of Canada through their home province. If you are unsure what province to apply to, contact Student Financial Assistance & Awards.

Do you have previous loans?

If you are returning to school, have previous government student loans, and are not taking out new student loans this year, you must inform your lenders that you are back in school. Review the information for students with previous loans to find out how you can notify your lenders.

Are you graduating?

Graduation is an exciting time, but it also means that your government student loans will shortly be entering repayment. We recommend that you review our information for students entering repayment to find out how to plan for repayment and the government programs available to assist you.
