Religious accomodation
UBC's policy on Religious Holidays includes the following provisions:
Recognizing the religious diversity of the UBC community, UBC permits students who are scheduled to attend classes or write examinations on holy days of their religions to notify their instructors in advance of the holy day of their wish to observe it by absenting themselves from class or examination. Instructors provide opportunity for such students to make up work or examinations missed without penalty.
UBC permits members of faculty and staff who are scheduled to work on holy days of their religions to notify their administrative heads of unit in advance of the holy days of their religion of their wish to observe it by absenting themselves from work. Administrative heads of unit make efforts to accommodate such requests.

The following websites provide information about religious observances for those planning academic activities. Some students may choose to seek accommodations for religious observances that may or may not be listed on the following websites. The absence of such dates should not preclude exam accommodation.
Please note that some observances are based on an interpretation of the lunar calendar, and may vary by a number of days depending upon the interpretation relevant to a student's faith tradition.
Students of a particular faith may or may not chose to seek religious accommodation depending on their individual involvement and beliefs.

The University of British Columbia recognizes eleven statutory holidays. Classes will not be held on these days:
