Course extensions
Extending a course means completing the course and writing the final examination during the next available examination period immediately following the scheduled course completion date.
Instructions
- Contact instructor to discuss your course progress and plans for completion.
- If you receive instructor approval to extend the course, contact your faculty advisor at Academic Advising.
- Your faculty advisor will evaluate your request and inform both you and Enrolment Services at distance.education@ubc.ca of the decision.
- If the extension is approved, Enrolment Services will email you confirmation once the extension is processed.
Faculty evaluation
Evaluation is based on:
- Academic Concessions Policies and Regulations
- faculty guidelines
- supporting documentation
- instructor comments
- course work completed at time of request
- recommendation from Access and Diversity (if applicable)
Things to consider
- Extension is for a maximum of four months.
- If approved for extension, you may not later withdraw from the course except with faculty recommendation.
