For the past thirteen years Susan has worked closely with community partners including parents, students, non-governmental organizations, representatives of city government, and business leaders, to launch and sustain a number of community based initiatives. She holds a bachelors degree in History from Kenyon College and a Masters in Higher Education Administration from the University of Michigan.

Allyson's background in Early Childhood Development, Aboriginal Health, and Aboriginal Education focused on bridging the gap between academic research and community driven needs. Her work at the UBC-CLI aims to better understand the impacts of Community Based Experiential Learning on the three key stakeholder groups with whom we work: community organizations, students, and faculty.

Justin Ho

Justin brings six years of experience in management of business and membership development with the United Community Services Co-op, a business services co-operative owned by 120 non-profits in BC. He has worked locally and nationally in the volunteer centre movement. Justin holds a BCom from UBC and completed the Bologna Summer Program on Co-operative Studies at the University of Bologna.

Rebecca Kindiak

Rebecca joined the UBC-CLI in 2009 following six years working as a policy analyst in national and municipal governments in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Her role aims to support faculty-based partners to embed Community-Based Experiential Learning opportunities into courses, curricula, and academic plans. Rebecca holds a BA (Hons.) from the University of Otago, and a MA in Geography from UBC.

Jill Porter

Jill brings over fifteen years of experience in strategic planning, community capacity building, collaboration, and partnership development with diverse stakeholders including non-profits, the government, and the private sector. Through the UBC-CLI, she works with community partners, staff, students, and faculty to identify and develop projects that enhance student learning and respond to emerging needs in local communities.

Alaya Boisvert

Alaya works in the Faculty of Applied Science developing and implementing course-based Community Service Learning opportunities. She helps enhance student learning and respond to priorities identified by community partners. Alaya brings community development, project management, and public engagement to her work. She holds a MSc in Strategic Leadership towards Sustainability.

Heather Turnbull

Heather works with faculty, students, and community organizations to support Community Service Learning (CSL) and Community-Based Research (CBR) to enhance student learning and respond to community priorities. Her work experiences have focused on experiential education, community development, civic engagement, and social change. Heather completed an MA (Honours) in Social Anthropology.

Kyle Nelson

Kyle works with the Faculty of Land and Food Systems in collaboration with a community of learners – students, staff, and faculty – to develop and implement community-based experiential learning opportunities. He believes in building capacity and being an agent for change. Kyle's volunteer experience has focused on improving sustainable behaviors as well as coaching youth sports. He holds a BA in Geography.

Matthew Bongiorno

Matthew works with the Sauder School of Business to ensure that students apply their discipline-specific knowledge toward resolving community-based challenges. Prior to joining UBC, he worked at the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games where he was responsible for national and international government partnerships. He has private, government, and non-profit sector experience in Canada and the US.

Emily Wimbles

Emily coordinates community-based partnerships to create impactful community-based experiential learning (CBEL) opportunities for UBC students, community partners, and UBC-CLI partner schools and organizations. Through Trek, Emily develops community programs in Vancouver’s inner city school and non-profit organizations. She has a background in community recreation and health programming.

Angeli dela Rosa

Angeli coordinates the administration of Reading Week Projects, including handling student recruitment and placement, monitoring student registration, and supporting UBC students. She plays a key role in planning and implementing the Student Leader Training Program. Angeli assists with logistics and planning for the Kick Off orientation. She holds a BA in Political Science and a minor in Critical Studies in Sexuality.

Kiki Lipsett

Kiki supports UBC students as they take on leadership opportunities in the community, such as developing their project ideas, and connect to Trek Program community partners. Kiki provides support to the Chapman Community Service Awards and the Student Leader Pilot in schools. She graduated from UBC with a BA in Psychology and Italian. For the past six years, Kiki has worked with youth in a variety of capacities.

Aylin Tavakoli

Aylin brings years of experience in the marketing and advertising industry to her work at the UBC-CLI. She has been a volunteer with non-profit organizations off and on campus and enjoys connecting with people from different backgrounds and ethnicities, and bringing them together. Aylin graduated from UBC's Sauder School of Business with a BCom in Marketing and Management Information Systems.
