International Women's Day

First celebrated in 1909, International Women's Day (March 8) is an occasion marked by women's groups around the world. This date is also commemorated at the United Nations and is a national holiday in many countries.
On International Women's Day, we reflect on the struggles and accomplishments of the past, and set goals for developing the potential and opportunities that await future generations of women.
This day is a remarkable opportunity for women divided by ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic, and political differences to come together in the ongoing struggle for equality, justice, peace, and development.
