Outpost: Asian Canadians Reframed
What comes to mind when you hear the term "Asian?" How are Asians portrayed in the media?
During the summer in 2007, UBC and SFU student volunteers scoured the streets, collecting people's perceptions of Asian Canadians on Post-it notes.
The findings were displayed in an interactive photo exhibit from October 14 to 20, 2007, in the SUB Art Gallery. An opening reception was held on October 15, 2007, at 5:00 pm, with guest speaker Alden Habacon, manager of Diversity Initiatives with CBC Television.
Access & Diversity was pleased to partner with the Asian Canadian Cultural Organization (ACCO) on this initiative. ACCO is a student organization focused on social justice issues on campus.
