CampOUT!

CampOUT!

CampOUT! is a four-day summer camp committed to creating an inspiring and welcoming space for queer, trans, and allied youth  between the ages of 14 and 21.  Campers will be empowered with leadership skills and a sense of pride and community through arts and media, dance and performance, and group discussions. Participants will have access to social, health, spiritual, and education resources, as well as the opportunity to explore and articulate the complex issues they face in their home communities. By recognizing that everyone has their own unique identity and ways of activating and sharing their strengths and gifts, we will work together to understand one another, challenge social norms, celebrate our diverse community, and become agents of positive change. Initiated by UBC, the fully-accessible camp will be held North of Vancouver, from August 5-8, 2010.

Our vision is a community where:

  • “Normal” doesn’t exist.
  • All forms of diversity are celebrated.
  • We are agents of change.
  • Each person’s individual journey is affirmed.
  • People are welcome as they are.

Our Mission is to create an empowering camping experience by providing practical social, educational, health, and leadership tools in a positive, safe, fun space for BC’s queer and trans youth.

We Value:

  • Leadership as a tool to realizing personal potential.
  • All youth, regardless of sexuality and/or gender identity.
  • Learning in non-traditional (and fun!) ways.
  • A commitment to take home our learning to help and better our home communities.
