BC’s Advanced Education and Labour Market Development Ministry identifies several provincial grants and bursaries for you. Check out the following websites to determine whether you are eligible or contact Access & Diversity to make an appointment with a Diversity Advisor – Disability.

Federal grants and bursaries

The Ministry of Advanced Education and Labour Market Development lists the following:

Twenty awards (scholarships and bursaries) are available for students with disabilities. Awards range in value and eligibility criteria. A complete list of these awards is available on the application form. Please visit the UBC Awards and Money Management website to download the form. 

Information on a large number of scholarships, grants, and bursaries for students with disabilities are also listed by the National Educational Association of Disabled Students.

UBC-based resources

  • General awards, scholarships, bursaries, and awards for students with disabilities are offered through the Student Financial Assistance & Awards office. Check out their website for disability-related scholarships and bursaries. Application forms are available in late August, and the deadline to apply is October 15 of each year.
  • Graduate student scholarships and bursaries are offered through UBC Graduate Studies.
  • Students may apply for the Assistance Program for Students with Disabilities which is used by Access & Diversity to cover some of the costs of notetaking, tutoring, exam accommodations, interpreting, captioning, and alternate format materials. To request a form to complete, email access.assistants@ubc.ca.
